Light Tape® Adhesives and Sealant

Protective Sealants

Star Brite®: Forms a protective dielectric coating on electrical and end seal connections to seal out moisture and prevent corrosion. Prevents piercing electrodes from loosening due to vibration.
Edge Guard™: A barrier tape used in conjunction with Star Brite® (above) to prevent moisture from damaging Light Tape® when cut.
GelTek® Strip: A self-adhering, self-healing, conformable silicone gel sealant strip to used provide additional sealing and weathering protection. It is flame retardant, UV and weathering resistant, and forms an instant environmental barrier in hot or cold climates.
Shrink Tube: A heat-forming tube used in conjunction with GelTek® strips to form a moisture barrier and stabilizer for our outdoormounting system.
VibraMount™: Designed for large panel interior installations to secure Light Tape® to almost any surface while eliminating vibration, VibraMount™ is a double sided adhesive, black foam tape. It is 31.5 mil (1/32” /0.8 mm) double coated black polyethylene. Also, it provides impact resistance on uneven surfaces.

Indoor Mounting Adhesives

UltraBond™: Ideal for mounting Light Tape® or Light Tape® Mounting Channel System to smooth surfaces. UltraBond™ is a white foamed acrylic core that is coated on both sides with high performance acrylic adhesives. It has excellent weathering properties and has exceptional dynamic shear properties at hot and cold temp-eratures. UltraBond™ is also shock, vibration, and noise dampening.
DuraShield™: Perfect for mounting Light Tape® to smooth surfaces, such as windows, floors, painted surfaces, etc. Dura-Shield™ is a clear, non-yellowing, removable urethane film overlay
that leaves no residue when removed. It is designed to provide a protective, puncture resistant shield to reduce abrasion while maintaining the low profile. It is available in 6 mil for average in- door applications, and 12 mil for high instance area installations.
FloorShield™: FloorShield is a textured, pressure sensitive UV stable PVC lamination film suitable for short term floor graphic applications and is designed to withstand foot traffic providing an excellent bond with minimal shrinkage. Rated for up to 30 days FloorShield is the ideal over-laminate protection for Light Tape when used in short term retail applications or on exhibition stands.
The textured surface is scuff-resistant, anti-reflective and provides double the industry standard slip resistance.
When used with Light Tape the Light Tape should be applied with a suitable double sided adhesive, the FloorShield should be applied over the Light Tape with at least a ¾” (20mm) overlap on each side, a hand held roller can be used to apply pressure to the FloorShield  to ensure a good bond with the floor surface. Heat can be used from a heat gun up to 40° C to help the flow of adhesive. The floor surface should be clean, dry and free from silicon based polish.

Tested to UK Slip Resistance BS 6677 Pt 1: 1986 UK & USA Slip Resistance ASTM/James Machine Data
Other adhesives: Since Light Tape® weighs only 1/4 pound per square foot, aggressive adhesives are never necessary for installation. Velcro or various adhesive foam tapes work for many indoor applications. However, DO NOT use silicone, Liquid Nails, or other non-approved adhesives. For example, silicone may seem like a viable option as it cures with water, but it reacts negatively with Light Tape's barrier encapsulation causing delamination and lamp failure.
